Who I am and what drives me
I consider it a privilege to be able to share ideas about learning with organizations. Learning and development occur throughout organizations. The challenge is to create an environment in which learning can take place optimally. Talent development is often simply about nurturing what people already have. I’m always pleased when talent and leadership development form a single whole with an organization’s strategic objectives.
As the fifth of six children, I learned early on how to discuss things as part of a group. When I was growing up, I really enjoyed playing. As an expert in public administration, I developed a sense for formal and informal power and influence within organizations and teams. Working with students gave me a deep understanding of people’s completely different backgrounds and learning styles. Over five years as a trainer at a large training agency gave me vital experience in communicating with and training groups and made me aware of just how important a company’s context is in terms of having opportunities to learn. As a program manager at Ludens, I enjoy setting up talent and leadership programs that are both attractive and effective. It’s also a pleasure to constantly rediscover the power of experience-based learning. As a husband and father of three, I notice each day that “coming home” has more to do with the quality of relationships than with parking the car out front.
